TUI welcomes recommendations from Joint Oireachtas Committee on off-shore island schools

The Teachers’ Union of Ireland (TUI) has welcomed this afternoon’s publication of the report and recommendations of the Joint Oireachtas Committee on Education and Skills on Off-Shore Island Schools. The Union has 138 members in five such schools off the coasts of Galway and Donegal.

Teacher unions outline recruitment crisis in teaching profession as a result of pay inequality

Pay inequality has created a teacher recruitment and retention crisis that will have severe repercussions for the education system unless it is urgently tackled, according to the three main teacher unions. In a joint statement, the Presidents of TUI, INTO and ASTI have called for an acceleration of the process of pay restoration for teachers employed since 2011.
