In Budget 2024 (introduced in October 2023), provision was made for the next phase of restoration of posts of responsibility. At post-primary level the funding equivalent of approx. 500 posts, with effect from 1st September 2024.
Circular Letter 31/2024 (click here to download) adjusted the schedule of posts of responsibility to reflect this additionality, which is of course over and above any additionality accruing to a school because of increases in student numbers/teacher allocation.
Discussions with the DoE and Management Bodies on an agreed Memorandum of Understanding for the recruitment of these posts concluded earlier today - click here for agreed note. Please note, schools/ETBs can proceed immediately to fill these posts and the agreed note sets out, in practice, how this is to be done.
Separately, discussions have been on-going regarding the eligibility for members to apply for the positions of AP1, AP2 and Programme Co-ordinator positions. It has now been agreed that eligibility will be extended and an information note will issue from the DoE later this week setting out the new eligibility criteria.
