Survey shows significant workload increase at third level due to move to emergency remote learning

The findings of a new Teachers’ Union of Ireland (TUI) survey of almost 400 lecturing staff have identified a significant increase in workload as a result of the move to emergency remote lecturing. The survey also outlined the health concerns of members in the context of COVID-19 and the effects of pay discrimination on the morale of staff.

SEC update on the wearing of face masks in Oral examinations

In recent days, TUI raised members' concerns with both with the Deptartment of Education and the SEC in relation to face masks and Oral exams. We note and welcome the SEC update this afternoon that wearing of face masks by both candidates and interviewers will now be required, with the exception of those exempted from wearing masks.

Update from FET Stakeholders Forum re: On-Site Delivery from 15th March

The following agreed communication is issued on behalf of the FET Stakeholders following an engagement  yesterday:| The Stakeholders working group met on March 10th, 2021, to discuss planning for the next stages of phased return for learners in FET settings. The Stakeholders group was satisfied with the way the first stage of the reopening process was delivered by the sector when the final year Leaving Certificate / Leaving Certificate Applied session 4 learners and a small number of critical and time sensitive apprenticeship classes returned to FET Centres.
