The executive committee of the Teachers’ Union of Ireland (TUI) this afternoon decided to ballot its membership immediately on the Public Service Agreement proposals.

The union will conduct separate ballots for members in second level and third level and will not issue a recommendation. It is anticipated that the result of the ballot will be known in the week beginning March 21st.

TUI General Secretary Peter MacMenamin said:

“After an extensive consultation process with members, it has been decided to ballot immediately on the Public Service Agreement proposals. We will not be issuing a recommendation. Members will have all relevant information made available to them and the decision on acceptance or otherwise now lies with them.”
