Make sure to mark this occasion in your workplace!
Every year on 5th October, the TUI participates in World Teachers’ Day, an important celebration of, and tribute to, the world’s educators. It is a time to acknowledge all that you do and the vital role that you play in educating and unleashing the potential of the students you encounter throughout your career.
Theme for 2026
The 2026 World Teachers’ Day will mark the 60th anniversary of the 1966 ILO/UNESCO Recommendation concerning the Status of Teachers under the theme “Standing with teachers: 60 years of protecting the profession, advancing its status and shaping our futures”. The event will celebrate progress in recognizing teachers’ vital role, highlight the challenges the profession continues to face, and call on society and policymakers to protect, promote and elevate its status.
Make sure to mark this special occasion!
World Teachers’ Day is an extremely important day and as an acknowledgement of its importance – and yours – in promoting and sustaining the TUI’s core values of justice and inclusion, members of the TUI in schools, colleges, institutes, technological universities, and centres are encouraged to mark the day with the purchase of refreshments for members. The cost of purchase can be recouped from the local branch by submitting receipts directly to the TUI Branch Treasurer (Please contact your branch in advance for any guidance on limits etc).
If posting any images of World Teachers’ Day 2026 staffroom gatherings, celebrations or events on social media, make sure to tag us so we can further share them, or forward them to tui@tui.ie
Enjoy the occasion and thank you for your commitment to your students and their education!
