This measure was put forward by the TUI last year and ultimately formed part of the package of measures voted on by members to support the implementation of Senior Cycle redevelopment.
The union welcomes the new provision as we had long sought it as one of a range of measures required to tackle the recruitment and retention crisis in our schools. We will continue to campaign on these issues. Now more than ever, teaching must be an attractive and sustainable career.
