A message from TUI member and TU Dublin lecturer Tom Clonan:

“My name is Tom Clonan. I’ve been an active member of the TUI for 22 years. I’m running for the Seanad Bye Election - Trinity College Dublin Panel. I’ve a proven track record in positive change in key areas.

Gender Based Violence - My PhD as an Army Officer revealed shocking levels of sexual violence and rape - 25 years before the #MeToo movement. I’m on the HEA Expert Advisory Group and the TU Dublin Taskforce on ending Sexual Violence and Harassment in our 3rd Level Institutions.

Disability Rights - my son and Campaign Manager Eoghan Clonan (20) is a wheelchair user and is partially sighted. We have been campaigning together for 20 years for Disability Rights. In 2021 we succeeded in changing a Discriminatory HEA rule and secured full supports for all Students with Disabilities at Third Level - irrespective of institution.

I am a 100% Independent - non Party - Senate Candidate. Our University Senators must be 100% Independent of political parties to hold Government - and our Universities - to account.
I have a track record of positive impacts in equality and social justice - I’m asking my Fellow TCD Graduates - Please Vote Tom CLONAN No1 - and please spread the word!”
