Following a meeting today, lecturers in St Angela’s College, Sligo have decided to suspend all industrial action being taken over concerns related to the college’s incorporation into NUI Galway (NUIG). This means that a second strike day scheduled for tomorrow (Thursday) will not take place.

The decision follows a formal meeting which took place yesterday involving TUI, NUIG and St Angela’s College.

The parties agreed that there will be a formal process of ongoing engagement and negotiation between TUI, St Angela’s College and NUIG.

On the basis of this constructive engagement, TUI members in St Angela’s College today decided to suspend industrial action, including a second day’s strike action which was planned for tomorrow.

In addition, solidarity protests scheduled for lunchtime in Institutes of Technology tomorrow will now not take place.
