Bernie Ruane TUI Bursary for students pursuing a career in post-primary teaching

To honour the memory of Bernie Ruane, the Teachers’ Union of Ireland (TUI) has established the Bernie Ruane TUI Bursary. 

One new bursary will be awarded each year to a student whose intention it is to pursue a career in post-primary teaching. 

In recognition of Bernie’s service to the Shannon Branch of the TUI, in the first year of operation of the scheme the bursary will be awarded to an applicant who is currently a final year Leaving Certificate student of one of the schools in that Branch: 

  • St Flannan’s College, Ennis
  • CBS Ennistymon
  • Rice College, Ennis
  • St Joseph’s, Tulla
  • St Patrick’s Comprehensive School, Shannon
  • St Caimin’s Community School, Shannon
  • Mary Immaculate, Lisdoonvarna
  • St Joseph’s, Spanish Point
  • Coláiste Mhuire, Ennis
