In advance of the annual review of the Financial Emergency Measures in the Public Interest (FEMPI) legislation, TUI contacted all TDs and Senators to demand its repeal.

The union stated that while never justified in the first place, it is clear that the financial emergency which triggered the original legislation no longer exists. It follows that this legislation, which punitively and unjustly targets public servants, including retired public servants, should now be repealed.

The union also restated its demand for pay equality for all teachers and lecturers.
