Teaching Council elections are due to take place early in 2016.   Details are on the Teaching Council website: www.teachingcouncil.ie.  The TUI will be seeking to endorse a candidate in three of the constituencies open to post-primary teachers, as follows :

Post-Primary ETB

-     Connaught/Munster/Ulster – one seat

-     Leinster – one seat

Post-Primary Community and Comprehensive

-     Connaught/Leinster/Munster/Ulster – one seat

Nominations were sought from branches for these three constituencies - click here to see a list of the nominees and the nominating branches.

Each branch in a constituency is now being asked to vote for candidates in that constituency in order of preference and to indicate such preference to this office by **5.00 pm on Thursday, 21st January, 2016.  ** Following requests from several Branches, in order to facilitate convening the required branch meetings, it has been decided to extend this deadline to 5.00pm on Friday, 22nd January, 2016

To take account of the differing sizes of branches, the vote of each branch will be counted as the number of delegates which the branch is entitled to send to Congress adjusted appropriately in the case of branches that have both ETB and C&C members.

Once a candidate in each of the three constituencies is identified by this process, that candidate and only that candidate will receive the full support of TUI, as necessary, and all TUI members will be encouraged to vote for that candidate and only for that candidate.

Further information in regard to the Teaching Council elections will be provided as and when necessary.
