Payment for recent days (Monday 16th October and Tuesday 17th October) when closure was directed by the Department of Education and Skills

It has been confirmed by the Department that if there was an expectation that a substitute or part time casual teacher would be working on an exceptional closure day then they can be paid for the day.

Please note that this will need to be inputted on the Online Claims System prior to the school recording the days as closure days on the system.

This should be brought to the attention of (a) substitute and/or part-time casual teachers and (b) Principal and Deputy Principal teachers, centre managers etc.

The Department of Education and Skills has confirmed that the terms of Circular 09/2017, Appendix B (Guidance for schools in relation to making up for time lost due to unforeseen closures) apply in respect of the unforeseen closures on Monday 16th and Tuesday 17th October 2017.
