TUI has not accepted Croke Park Agreement

(10 Nov 2010)

Update: Morning Ireland subsequently clarified the correct situation on the programme broadcasted 11/11/10

Kieran Mulvey, chief executive of the Labour Relations Committee, stated on RTE’s Morning Ireland this morning (10/11/10) that the Teachers’ Union of Ireland (TUI) have accepted the Croke Park Agreement. This is incorrect.

TUI members have voted to suspend industrial action temporarily to allow union negotiators to participate in discussions on issues arising from the Croke Park Agreeement.

Any subsequent proposals as a result of these discussions will be put before members by way of a new ballot before anything is agreed.

TUI has made representation to RTE advising of both the error and the correct position.
