The figures reported in today’s Irish Times regarding teachers reporting for work on strike days are simply wrong. The Department of Education and Skills has confirmed to the TUI that the figures are incorrect.
On Tuesday December 2nd, 2014 and Thursday January 22nd, 2015 all second-level schools were closed and members of the TUI and ASTI took strike action, which included the picketing of all schools.
It is unfortunate that the position of teachers on Junior Cycle reform has been misrepresented in such a public manner.
