The Teachers’ Union of Ireland (TUI) today advised students not to be disheartened if they have not yet received an offer through the CAO.
TUI President Bernie Ruane said:
“Students should not to be disheartened if they have not received an offer today as there is still a chance that they will be offered their chosen course in the later rounds of offers.
It is advisable that students treat any offer received as the final offer that they may get and of course they should read all documentation carefully.
They should also bear in mind at this time that hundreds of courses in the Further Education sector, particularly Post Leaving Certificate (PLC) courses, facilitate the first steps of a different access route to higher education and ultimately their chosen career. Once again, we would ask that the restrictions on student numbers in this sector be lifted to meet demand.
Institute of Technology courses are also inextricably linked to the labour market needs of the local community, and this is vitally important for students in the current economic climate.”
