The Department of Education and Skills has confirmed to TUI that the target date for the payment of delayed increments and arrears to second-level teachers is the 19th of February. The Department expects to meet the target date.
The union made strong representations to the Department of Education and Skills in December and January over the failure to pay teachers annual increments due to a significant number of teachers on December 1st. The matter had been brought the matter to the attention of the Teachers’ Conciliation Council.
Once the incremental salary delays are resolved, the Department will proceed to work on implementing the new improved salary scales for those who entered teaching in 2011. This new salary scale will be backdated to November 2013
