The Teachers’ Union of Ireland (TUI) welcomes the publication of the Cush report on Fixed-Term and Part-Time Employment in Lecturing in Third Level Education in Ireland.
The union has been engaged in a campaign over a long period of time highlighting both the negative effects on the quality of education provision and the demoralising effects on the profession caused by the prevalence of casualised employment in Institutes of Technology.
Implementation of the report’s recommendations will represent a significant step towards addressing the current crisis of casualisation. The union is seeking implementation of the recommendations without delay.
