TUI members vote to suspend industrial action

TUI members have voted to suspend temporarily the industrial action imposed as a result of the imposition of the pension levy and the pay cut in order to allow the union to engage in discussions related to the Public Service Agreement.

It is important to clarify that this result does not signify acceptance of the so-called Croke Park deal.

TUI expects that it will now be able to partake in ongoing discussions with the Department of Education and Skills along with the other teacher unions.

Any subsequent proposals as a result of these discussions will be put before TUI members by way of a new ballot before anything is agreed.  

The margin of the vote was 84.2% YES   15.8% NO
