The Teachers’ Union of Ireland (TUI) has congratulated Ruairi Quinn on his appointment as Minister of Education and Skills.

TUI General Secretary Peter MacMenamin said that he “looked forward to working with Minister Quinn on the onerous task of continuing to build our education service in the interests of all our young people.”

“There is a lot to do in terms of bringing about a fairer and more equitable education system and also one which will bring our country out of recession and into the future. Even in the current climate, this will require targeted investment. We look forward to meeting with the new Minister in the near future.”
