Salary increment delays

Representation has been made by TUI to the Department of Education and Skills over the failure to pay annual increments due to teachers on the Department’s payroll in Community & Comprehensive schools. The matter was brought to the attention of the Teachers’ Conciliation Council.

Many members were due increments on December 1st under the Haddington Road Agreement (HRA), which states that increments due in 2014 are to be delayed by three months for those earning less than €65,000 and by six months for those earning over €65,000. Before the implementation of the HRA, most teachers would previously have received their increments in September. Therefore a significant number should have been awarded deferred increments in December (ie following a a three month delay under the HRA).

The Department has apologised the delay and committed to ensuring that the increments will be released as soon as possible.

If you are in a school that is not in the Community and Comprehensive sector and have not yet been paid an increment that was due, please send details to tui@tui.ie marked for the attention of the General Secretary.
