TUI/ASTI/INTO Pensions Symposium: Limited Places Available

New entrant teachers face huge challenges in accessing work and fair pay and conditions. One of the most penal proposals is a pension scheme from 2011 where teachers will pay more in pension contributions than they can ever receive in pension.

Hundreds of serving, retired and student teachers have attended meetings around the country to learn about and oppose the attack on pensions. As a follow up, the three teacher unions have now organised a Symposium on Public Service and Teachers’ Pensions to be held in the Gresham Hotel, O’Connell St., Dublin, on Wednesday 23 March from 7.30pm (registration from 6.30pm).

This is a significant event, bringing together pensions experts, union representatives and contributors from a range of backgrounds. Among the speakers are John O’Connell (Trident Consulting and author of Trident Report), Kevin Courtney (National Union of Teachers, UK), Charlie Weston (Personal Finance Editor, Irish Independent) and the General Secretaries of TUI, ASTI and INTO.

A limited number of places (max. 100) is available for TUI members interested in attending this event. These will be allocated on a “first come, first served” basis. Please email lconville@tui.ie to reserve your place.
