TUI today welcomed the long overdue publication of the Children First guidelines by Frances Fitzgerald TD, Minister for Children and Youth Affairs. This will now enable the issuing of the revised child protection guidelines for schools which are critical to enabling teachers effect their role in protecting the welfare and safety of children.

In tandem with this, it is imperative that the government invests in the supports and professional development that teachers need to enable them to implement the guidelines in an appropriate and timely manner.
