General Election 2016 - Making education an election issue

By piofficer, Monday, 8th February 2016 | 0 comments

Ahead of the General Election, TUI posed six key questions on education policy to the main political parties. Responses were received from the Labour Party, Sinn Féin, Fianna Fáil and the Anti Austerity Alliance.

Questions focused on the following key issues:

Casualisation/differentiated pay scales
Third level crisis
Erosion of student support services
Rising student numbers
Bureaucratisation of teaching and lecturing
Lack of appropriate career structures in Further Education

The responses were published in the February 2016 edition of TUI News, which was posted out to schools, colleges and centres last week.
