The State Examinations Commission (SEC) has advised us that they have a shortfall in applications from teachers  to mark certain subjects in this year’s Leaving and Junior Certificate examinations.

As a result the SEC has launched a recruitment drive on its website www.examinations.ie which sets out details of the subjects in which additional examiners are required and details of eligibility and how to apply.  As well as the ability to earn extra income there are many other positive benefits to becoming an examiner which include gaining a deeper understanding of the assessment process, enhancing your teaching practice and improving your professional development and career prospects. All suitably qualified teachers are welcome to apply for these positions and examiners will be selected on the basis of their teaching and assessment experience and qualifications.  Full training will be provided and a support network is available throughout the marking process.  The extended closing date for applications is Friday 29th  April.

The SEC has also advised that they have a shortfall in applications from qualified German teachers to examine the Leaving Certificate Oral tests which this year run from Monday 11th to Friday 22nd April.
The application form is available here https://www.examinations.ie/misc-doc/ModernLanguagesApplicationFormOrals2016_EV2.pdf and the the extended closing date for  applications for German Oral Examiners is Tuesday 5th April.

Prospective applicants for oral examining who are serving teachers are required to seek permission from their school principal/ETB CEO to be released for this assignment.
