The Teachers’ Union of Ireland (TUI) today reiterated that it is seeking a resounding ‘no’ mandate in the ballot on the Croke Park proposals.
A special meeting of the TUI’s executive committee unanimously decided this afternoon that clarification in recent days offers absolutely no basis to amend the union’s recommendation.
Union General Secretary Peter MacMenamin said that “this clarification offers not even a morsel of comfort to teachers, while lecturers in Institutes of Technology are particularly incensed that no clarification on their sector was offered. The only certainties of the Croke Park proposals remain further uncertainty and a guaranteed attack on working conditions. Now more than ever, we urge all members to vote against the proposals.” Test
